4th of July

July 4, 2007

Today was my very first holiday to celebrate. Mom and dad packed me up and we met a huge group of people from church. We all caravaned to Great Meadows for some outdoor fun. Mom walked me around so that I could see Nate ride a pony. Daddy really enjoyed the model airplanes that were doing stunt tricks. I must say my favorite part of the day was laying under Uncle Christians truck. The large group was tailgating, and that was the one place that I felt out of the way and safe. I can say one thing...Under neither a Chevy truck is awesome!

Oooooohhhhhhhiiiiiiiiioooooo!

June 28-July 2, 2007

I made my first long distance trip this weekend. We left Thursday morning and drove to big ole W.L. Ohio. Vy Yoder went with us and helped my Mom make the trip. Dad drove separately since he was selling a car out there. We went to Ohio because one of my Mom's best friends was getting married. On Saturday June 30th, Kristi Horner married Matt Hallorgan.

Also, I was able to spend time with my Cousin Keagon, as well as visit with my Grandma, Conrad, Aunt Kyla and Grandpa Bill. It was a fun weekend.

Spending time on the farm, I got to see my first real horses and cattle, fly RC model airplanes with Conrad and ride on my first four wheeler with my Dad.

Just Checking In

June 22, 2007

Today was my two month check-up. I now officially weigh 15 pounds and am 25 and 1/4 inchs long. Everything is going well and I received my shots. I didn't like that very much but it was necessary.

Say What?

June 20, 2007

Finally, I get a rest. Mom and Dad have taken it easy the last few weeks. They have returned to working with the youth at church, but we haven't really taken any trips. Now that my Dad is back at work, it is hard to get out for the day and travel. For the most part, I've been sleeping and growing.

Today, I went into the doctor for my B.E.A.R. hearing test. Up to this point, I have failed all of my hearing tests and since hearing loss (what?) runs in the family, the docs want to measure the extent of my hearing loss. I would post pictures, but the battery in the camera was dead. The results of the test are good. I only have a slight hearing loss in one ear, but even it is considered normal. I go back in six months from now to do more extensive testing.

New Visitors

May 28, 2007

It's Memorial day and I didn't do anything special. My Aunt Mandy left for TN yesterday and my Grandma came to visit but was only here for 24 hours. My Grandpa came to visit me today. He drove in from TN to see me for the first time. Now, I've met all my grandparents. He is staying until Wednesday when he will leave to go pick up his son, Josh, at Fort Lee in Richmond. I'm looking forward to our visit. My eyes are improving and my ear infection is gone. Tomorrow I go to the Audiologist to get my hearing checked. I have failed every hearing test so far, so I'm hoping that the last few weeks have allowed the fluid to drain so I can hear. My Mom and Dad say that I'm responsive to sounds so tomorrow looks good. I'll keep you up to date.

Not so Well

May 26, 2007

Well, I haven't been feeling too well. I woke up Thursday morning and my eyes were swollen shut. My Mom took me to the doctor and they ordered me to Fairfax hospital. I was poked and proded, but the staff was as nice as could be. They admitted me that afternoon and kept me until today. My Mom and Dad are exhausted. They stayed with me the whole time, except for when my Dad had to go to work on Friday. He was fortunate to work close to the hospital so he wasn't gone long. The doctors put me on antibiotics to treat some sort of infection. It manifested itself in my eyes and ears but they were sure if that was the source of it. My Dad was happy because they had a TV there he could watch. The medicine helped tremendously and they released me around 4:00 today. I'm home now and happy. I know my Mom and Dad are too. I'll let you know how things progress.

New Arrival

May 19, 2007

Today I got to meet my Aunt Mandy. She flew here from Tennessee this morning. Mom and I got up around 10:00 and left for BWI around 11:00. After meeting my Aunt Mandy, we went to Annapolis and walked around. There wasn't really much to do so we came home. My Dad spent the day in Gordonsville, hunting and working on Jack's property. We joined him, Christian and Jack in Fredericksburg for dinner. I was pretty tired by that point so I slept through dinner. I hear that Jack and Nate got in a peanut war.

A Night Out

May 17, 2007

Can you believe my parents already left me alone for an evening? My Mom and Dad decided to go out and celebrate their 9th anniversary, even though it was yesterday. I got to stay with Grandma for a few hours while they went to dinner. I kind of felt bad because all I did was sleep, but I know she enjoyed the stay.

My First Hike

May 15, 2007

Today I went on my first hike. My Mom and Dad took me to the White Oak Canyon trail in Shenandoah National Park. It was beautiful. The day was marked by low humidity, sun, and the mid-80's. We took off mid-morning and hiked in to the lower falls. There were actually two sets of falls. The first set was only about 15 feet high, but the second set was about 50 feet high. The water cascaded into a large pool of water which held several large trout. On the way up my Dad kept stopping at the pools and spotting the trout. It was a semi-strenous hike, well, not for me. My Mom carried me in and my Dad carried me out. I have a feeling my Dad will take me back when I'm old enough to fish the stream. He says he caught a 16 inch Rainbow Trout in that stream last year, but you know how fish stories are. I enjoyed the hike and hope we can do more.

Mother's Day

May 13, 2007
I have the pleasure of honoring my Mom with her first Mother's day. I gave her a card and a dozen roses. After church, we drove to Fort Lee to see my Uncle Josh. He recently graduated from boot camp and is still training in Richmond, VA. We didn't get to spend much time with him, but it was nice to meet him. I'm waiting to hear where he'll be stationed next. Yesterday, my daddy finished his Master's program. He appeared before the faculty all morning and spent the afternoon at a BAT day with the youth group at church. He's relieved it's over. I overheard Mommy and Daddy talking and I think we going to Shenandoah National Park later this week. That sounds like fun.

I'm Alright

May 7, 2007

I had my two week check-up today. I've gained two pound in the last week, putting me at 9 pounds, 14 ounces. I had lost a little my first week out of the womb but now I'm catching up. I haven't really grown in length but I'm sure that will happen soon enough. I've been sleeping pretty well and I'm starting to get this whole feeding thing (duh, I'm a Hambrick). Mom and Dad have been very patient with me and are starting to learn my signals. I've almost got them trained. Another few weeks and I'll have them right where I want them. I been to church twice now and am surprised how many people were happy to see me. They kept saying things like, "it's about time", "finally", and "now you fit in". I don't understand what they mean but I bet Mom and Dad do.

Settling In

May 1, 2007

Well, I'm home and beginning to figure things out. I've gone easy on Mom and Dad the last few nights but I've got some surprises up my little sleeves. It's nice having both Mom and Dad home with me. They've taken me out everyday. Sometimes we go for walks or to the mall, or for a special treat, we go to Wal-mart. Mom says she is feeling well and she looks great. Recently, they've been taking a number of pictures of me. I'm about flashed out. We took a Hambrick family photo yesterday. I must say I look great. Tomorrow's Wednesday, which means chicken wings. I'm looking forward to spending time with Mommy and Daddy's friends. I'm also looking forward to the Chipotle sauce!

Home

April 25, 2007

Hooray! I'm going home. I got the okay to leave today. I can't wait to see my new home. Okay, I guess it's been my home all along, but now I can actually see some of it. I know it's been a hard week on my Mom and Dad too. I'm sure they excited to go home as well. I'm a little nervous about leaving since I've had all these nurses and doctors to help take care of me. I hope my Mommy and Daddy know what to do.

Wow, All These People

April 23, 2007

Well, I must say, the hospital has been very accomodating. Today I got my first bath and peed on my daddy for the first time. He's so inexperienced, he left the diaper off me for just a moment and BAAM. He never saw it coming. I had a lot of people come and visit today. My mommy and daddy acted like people came to see them, but we all know the truth. I'm hoping to go home soon, but we first have to hear from the doctor.

Alright, I guess I'll throw in a picture of my Mom and Dad . . .

Welcome World!

April 22, 2007

Hello,

My name is Levi. I was born today, Sunday. I was hesitant to come out at first, but after 28 hours of resisting, I finally gave in and let the doc take me out. I did protest enough that they had to do a C-section (sorry Mom). Finally, at 9:25 am, I joined the new, cold world; all 8 pounds, 11 ounces and 22 3/4 inches of me. Get ready, here I come.
